Overview

What it does

For a query or topic: whether your brand appears, which competitors appear, whether you are cited and which sources are.

Method

How it works

1. Enter a brand or a topic

Use the words a customer would use, not your internal category name.

2. It asks four engines the same question

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, each run more than once because answers vary between runs. One check is a snapshot; several is a signal.

3. It reports mentions and citations separately

Being mentioned and being cited are different things. You can be named in an answer that links to a competitor, and that is worth knowing.

4. It shows what got cited instead

The pages the engines used, and what they have in common. That list is usually the most useful part of the output — it tells you what shape of page gets picked up.

Example

Sample output

Illustrative example. The tool is not connected yet, so this shows the shape of the output rather than a real run.

Input

Brand: an independent bookkeeping practice. Topic: choosing a bookkeeper.

Output

  • ChatGPT — not mentioned. Cited: two directory listings, one accounting blog.

  • Perplexity — mentioned once, not cited.

  • Gemini — not mentioned.

  • AI Overviews — not mentioned. Cited: a government guidance page and a comparison article.

Pattern in cited pages: all four answer the question in the first paragraph and use question-shaped subheadings.

FAQ

Common questions

Why is this the most expensive tool at five credits?

Why is this the most expensive tool at five credits?

Because one run queries four engines several times each, and those calls cost real money — roughly the most of anything on this site. Five credits means five checks out of the 25 you start with, which is enough to find out whether it is worth an account. Weighting the cost per tool is what lets the pool stay a single number. Pricing explains it. If that is not enough, a free account adds 10 credits a month, and Pro's 500 covers a hundred checks.

Why does it run the same question more than once?

Why does it run the same question more than once?

Because answers vary between runs. Ask a model the same thing twice and you can get a mention one time and nothing the next. A single check is a snapshot, not a baseline. Running each engine several times and reporting the pattern is the only way to say anything useful, and it is why one check costs five credits rather than one. One run therefore represents several queries per engine, not four single questions. The AI visibility guide explains why the variance matters.

What is the difference between a mention and a citation?

What is the difference between a mention and a citation?

A mention is your name appearing in the answer text. A citation is your page being linked as a source. You can be mentioned in an answer that cites a competitor, which is worth knowing and easy to miss. The tool reports both separately, along with the pages cited instead of yours. The AI visibility guide covers what to do about it. Both are reported per engine rather than averaged, because the engines disagree.

How often should I check?

How often should I check?

Monthly for most sites, or weekly for a few weeks after changing something you want to see land. Answers drift as models update, so what matters is the direction over months rather than any single run. A free account's 10 credits a month covers a monthly check comfortably. Pro adds history and competitor comparison — see pricing. Checking daily mostly measures model variance rather than anything you changed, which is an expensive way to learn nothing.
